What we actually do

We provide computer tablets pre-loaded with educational software to pre-school age children in underprivileged families through our partner educational institutions.

How we do it

We work with non-profit schools and literacy advocates to support their efforts at accelerating the reading and math learning of underprivileged students via the use of Age of Learning software programs on dedicated computer tablets.  Early Learning Opportunity Group purchases and registers hardware and software licenses and distributes the tablets to our partner organizations at no charge to them.

Cost to the participants

$Zero!  It costs the students in our program nothing to participate.

Hardware and Software

We are currently utilizing Samsung tablets with an added foam rubber protective carrying/display case, pre-loaded with My Reading Academy and/or My Math Academy apps from Age of Learning.  We also utilize a software program from LimaxLock to "lock down" the tablets so that they are dedicated solely to the academic apps pre-loaded by us.  Additionally, we disable the tablets' cameras for privacy assurance.  The tablets cost around $100, and the software around $50/year/tablet.

Student measurement

The Age of Learning apps have some student progress measurement tools built-in, which are available to the students' parents.  There is also an extensive "educator dashboard" which enables our educational partners to monitor individual student progress in order to measure outcomes as well as fine-tune teacher-student interaction to maximize each student's learning progress.

Resources

With our current level of donations and pledges, we expect to be able to provide our educational program to 70 children.  A $150 donation is enough to sponsor a child in our program.  Click on Donate to help us in our mission!
